Mustad Diving Pencil 160 OTO 6.3" 2.6 Oz Shiny Ghost Sardine
Mustad has been developing the Oto pencil in Japan for several years now and after the wait they’ve finally made their way over to the US. These lures have been specifically designed for ease of use when targeting picky eaters, especially Cali Yellowtail, Amberjack and Yellowtail Kingfish. The interior body design is highly reflective and mimics bone structure in fish to make them more attractive, in addition they’ve added a reflective blade on the belly which adds to the action of the lure in the water. Each lure is rigged with Mustad Jaw Lok inline treble hooks but they’ve tested these lures with inline singles and double assist hooks which have been popular in Japan.
We’ve chosen to bring in some of the hot colors for our waters, especially looking to match our bait patterns. Can’t go wrong with Sardine or Flying fish, but I wouldn’t overlook the others since they are more translucent in the water which gives the lure a smaller silhouette. Clear lures have been working well when the bait is small, the smaller silhouette will help you get a bite when they’re not feeding on big baits.
